We appreciate your interest in our cattle.
What you’ll find on our website – and in our pastures – are the result of two decades of breeding and performance testing Angus cattle. With the purchase of a Barbara K heifer from Mill Coulee Angus, Dennis and Jennifer started Deppe Angus in 1997.
Our goal has been the same since the beginning -– to produce performance-tested bulls and females that will accelerate and thrive in commercial and seedstock producers’ herds.
We began performance testing at the Iowa Cattleman’s bull test stations in 1999. In 2013, we began testing bulls at the granddaddy of bull tests in Midland Bull Test in Columbus, Mont., and in 2015, 2016 and 2017, we had the champion weight per day of age bull for their respective groups. In 2018, Deppe Angus produced the World Champion Pen of Bulls at the Midland Bull Test.
Our success and ability to grow is due to terrific partnerships that we have formed with families in the Angus business. Andy and Stacy Joos of Joos Angus and their three sons farm in southern Iowa, near Bloomfield. Chad and Carrie Gotto farm in eastern Iowa near Dyersville.
DNA data has been collected since 2008. We use extensive embryo transfer and implant 125 to 150 embryos per year to grow and make rapid genetic improvement. Cattle must be sound, structurally correct with eye appeal. Females have strong maternal traits, longevity and docile temperament.
